SW REVIEW
This Marylebone modern take on the Prohibition speakeasy is set in the converted basement of a Georgian house and welcomes its guests into private cubbyhole tables of 6-8. Influenced by 19th century drinking but employing some rather extravagant modern scientific skills in their mixing, Purl is continuing to impress in its second year. Drinks vary from molecular twists on classics like the Bellini to entirely mad creations that might use liquid nitrogen, test tubes and potion bottles. The whole feel of the place is very cool, from the funky club tunes to the quirky decor (which features an old phone box inside) and the bar which is part-drinks service, part-laboratory. A truly different night out that’s well worth going out of your way for.
