Back to Basics is situated in a pretty corner spot near Oxford Circus, though you'd be forgiven for thinking you were oceanside if judging by the freshness of the fresh. The restaurant is truly a "seafood lover's dream". The menu centers on classics including steamed mussels, dressed crab and fisherman's soup. On the blackboard, you will find the daily specials featuring the catch of the day and other fruits of the sea, all of which are served up simply and bursting with flavour. Service is exceptional, with the charming Breton top-clad waitresses adding some French charm and a flurry of smiles to your day. A glowing recommendation from celebrity fan Orlando Bloom can be found downstairs, which goes to show that the seafood is good enough to 'wow' a genuine Pirate of the Caribbean. Adding to the seaside feel (though perhaps with more black cabs and red buses), outdoor seating is available for a sunny day.
