The old saying claims that “too many cooks spoil the broth”. However, when those cooks happen to be Mike Robinson of the much-beloved The Pot Kiln in Berkshire and Brett Graham of SW-favourite The Ledbury, two guys at the top of their game who happen to own the place, it would seem that the broth comes out rather unspoilt and, in fact, rather like an excellent gastropub. Food is very much at the forefront, making a point to source only the very best ingredients (Robinson, I’m told, shoots all the venison himself.) Dishes such as Beef cheeks with Snails and Duck Breast with Roast Beetroot Tart await anyone who ventures down to this sleepy part of Fulham for a visit. It’s easy to tell that this really used to be an amazing local for those lucky enough to live nearby, but the awarding of a Michelin star in 2010 (a first for a London pub) has really ramped up demand, meaning that booking well ahead is required. Sunday lunches are something special, while Tuesday offers a stripped-down menu in honour of Quiz Night, which sacrifices culinary range but more than makes up for it with the fun atmosphere. It also seems illegal to discuss the Harwood Arms without mentioning their Venison Scotch Egg, so here we go...Venison Scotch Egg. Amazing.
