SW REVIEW
With a reputation for some great British food preceding it, it was only a matter of hours after hearing about the Mall Tavern that SW headed straight for it. The pub itself is situated on a quiet corner just off Kensington Church Street and comes complete with restored traditional wooden decor, a great range of cask ales, a few speciality seasonal cocktails (strawberry mojito, Pimms Royale) and a decent wine list developed with the help of a couple of neighbourhood wine shops. A smallish garden at the rear is just large enough to catch a few rays on sunny days. The food, as it turns out, is actually a real winner and certainly lives up to its reputation. Three dishes in particular have already reached somewhat legendary status in the locality; their Chicken Kiev, Cow Pie and Arctic Rolls. Regulars also cite their soda bread as being amongst the main reasons they come back. Quite how good it is, SW didn't get to discover, but if you go back to a pub over and over because of their bread...it must be pretty darned good. Definitely a great spot for lunch or an afternoon of drinking and grazing.
